An open conversation about sexual self-determination and the societal shift of intimacy.
Düsseldorf, Germany / Wasserbillig, Luxembourg, April 2026.
As part of the SEX NOW exhibition at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, the talk series “In bed with…” created a space for open and contemporary conversations about sexuality. Across four events, different perspectives came together to explore topics such as sexual well-being, societal change, and new forms of education. The series concluded with an event featuring participation from pjur.
Moderated by journalist and artist Auri Sattelmair, the final event brought together two strong voices who engage with modern sexuality in different ways.
The Speakers
Sanja Zündorf, founder of “entzück dich selbst,” focuses intensively on female pleasure and body awareness. Based on her work, she developed the so-called “masturbation saddle,” an innovative product that opens new perspectives on female sexuality. Her approach is based on the belief that sexuality begins with self-determination and is not bound to heteronormative concepts of satisfaction.
Jennifer Parry, Brand Director pjur, contributed the perspective of an internationally operating brand. She represents an open and responsible approach to sexuality, placing quality, education, and a well-founded understanding of intimacy at the center. “For us, it’s about creating spaces where intimacy can be discussed openly and without taboos, but with a conscious and informed understanding of one’s own body,” says Jennifer Parry. “Sexual well-being is a central component of quality of life and is increasingly becoming part of a holistic understanding of well-being.”
Together, they discussed the role sexual well-being plays today, how the sex industry is evolving within the tension between education, commercialization, and societal change, and the prejudices the industry continues to face. These were specifically addressed and critically examined during the discussion. Through the inclusion of anonymous audience questions, impulses could be directly integrated into the conversation, making different perspectives visible. Female sexual self-determination in particular played a central role, underlining the growing importance of an open and reflective approach to intimacy.
New Spaces for Open Conversations
The strong response and active participation throughout the talk series clearly demonstrated how relevant spaces for open and nuanced dialogue about sexuality are. Formats such as “In bed with…” make an important contribution to questioning existing patterns of thinking and opening up new perspectives on intimacy. A clear development is becoming apparent: sexuality is increasingly experienced in a more individual, conscious, and self-determined way. Topics such as body awareness, communication, and personal needs are gaining greater focus and are shaping the societal discourse around sexual wellness in a lasting way.
pjur and the Shift in Education
As an internationally active company in the field of premium intimate products, pjur sees itself as part of this development. The focus is not only on quality and innovation, but also on making a well-founded and responsible contribution to the further development of education and a contemporary understanding of sexuality.
Participation in formats such as “In bed with…” as part of SEX NOW underlines the brand’s commitment to actively engaging in societal discourse, making knowledge accessible, and providing impulses based on education, self-determination, and a reflective approach to intimacy.
